# Can this replace "ImageMagick Engine" plugin?

 * Hello,
 * I’m currently using “ImageMagick Engine” plugin:
    [https://wordpress.org/plugins/imagemagick-engine/](https://wordpress.org/plugins/imagemagick-engine/)
 * So that images that I upload and that WP resizes and crops, always stay sharp(
   as GD does a poor job here).
 * From the description it sounds that “EWWW Image Optimizer” can replace this plugin.
   Is this correct? All WP image manipulations will be automatically performed through“
   EWWW Image Optimizer” and ImageMagick, right?

 * No, it cannot. It simply hooks into whichever engine is being used during the
   save routine to make sure the images are optimized when they are created.
 * Also, if you are using WP 3.5+, I don’t think you need that plugin, since it 
   doesn’t appear to do anything different than stock WP anymore (but you’d want
   to test it and see to make sure first).
