# Cannot access Admin Area…

 * Hello all, I’ve a problem accessing my WordPress Admin Area on a site that used
   to have WordPress installed in the root, then replaced with a standard HTML site.
 * I’ve now reinstalled wordpress in a /wp directory: [http://XXXXXX.com/wp/](http://XXXXXX.com/wp/)
 * but when I try to access my Admin area: [http://XXXXXX.com/wp/wp-admin](http://XXXXXX.com/wp/wp-admin)
 * It repoints me to the location of the original WordPress site:
    [http://XXXXXX.com/wp-admin/upgrade.php?_wp_http_referer=%2Fwp%2Fwp-admin%2F](http://XXXXXX.com/wp-admin/upgrade.php?_wp_http_referer=%2Fwp%2Fwp-admin%2F)
 * And I get the following error:
 * **HTTP Error 404.0 – Not Found
    The resource you are looking for has been removed,
   had its name changed, or is temporarily unavailable.
 * Canyone help me sort this so the Admin Area is pointing towards the new site 
   in the /wp directory?

 * Did you change the urls when you moved wordpress from root to wp folder if you
   did then did you reset your permalinks

 * No I didn’t change URLs – I simply had the original site in the wwwroot, then
   deleted it. Now I’ve reinstalled it in the folder wwwroot/wp

 * you will need to change the urls as they are still pointing to root

 * Hi,
 * Sorry to jump in, but I am currently having the same problem, and I know that
   I have to do what you have linked, but the problem is, I can’t seem to find my
   subfolder.
 * Someone else was updating our company website for a while and he put a password
   protection on the “www.mysite.com/wp” I was wondering if the password has anything
   to do with me not being able to find all my files on the ftp?
 * If this is unrelated to post, I’d be more than willing to post a new thread.
