 * Hi there,
 * I updated the theme on my site and now for some reason am unable to access wp-
   admin. The site still loads, but when I attempt to access wp-admin it takes me
   to a white page and gives the error below. Any ideas? I’d be okay to remove the
   theme if there is a way to do so.
 * There has been a critical error on this website. Please check your site admin

 * Thanks for your help!
 * (By the way, I’ve checked my admin email address and no such response email was
   ever sent.)

 * Errors like this are logged. Check the error log on your server. If you can’t
   find the log, please contact your host.
 * Meantime, enable wp_debug and wp_debug_log and after an error, look at wp-content/
   debug.log to see if anything gets logged there. [https://wordpress.org/support/article/debugging-in-wordpress/](https://wordpress.org/support/article/debugging-in-wordpress/)
 * You can also try this: Please attempt to disable all plugins, and use one of
   the default (Twenty*) themes. If the problem goes away, enable them one by one
   to identify the source of your troubles.
 * If you cannot access wp-admin, there are other ways to deactivate plugins:  [https://wordpress.org/support/article/faq-troubleshooting/#how-to-deactivate-all-plugins-when-not-able-to-access-the-administrative-menus](https://wordpress.org/support/article/faq-troubleshooting/#how-to-deactivate-all-plugins-when-not-able-to-access-the-administrative-menus)

 * Hey [@brandonjohnsondev](https://wordpress.org/support/users/brandonjohnsondev/),
 * Since the error come after updating the theme, you may need to deactivate the
   theme. You need to access your server via [SFTP or FTP](https://wordpress.org/support/article/ftp-clients/),
   or a file manager in your hosting account’s control panel, navigate to `/wp-content/
   themes/` and rename the directory of your currently active theme `astra` to `
   _astra`. This will force the default theme to activate. Then login back into
   the dashboard.
 * If this doesn’t help, try [manually resetting your plugins](https://wordpress.org/support/article/faq-troubleshooting/#how-to-deactivate-all-plugins-when-not-able-to-access-the-administrative-menus)(
   no Dashboard access required). If that resolves the issue, reactivate each one
   individually until you find the cause.
 * Additionally, you can contact your hosting provider, and they will help you access
   the error logs. They should help you point out if the problem came from a theme
   or plugin. After that, consider contacting the theme or the plugin support forum
   to fix the issue.
 * Kind Regards,
   Erick

 * Hi [@sterndata](https://wordpress.org/support/users/sterndata/) and [@r1k0](https://wordpress.org/support/users/r1k0/),
 * I was able to disable the astra theme in the file manager and it appear to be
   working again. Much appreciated!
 * Brandon
