cannot change default media sizes

    Greetings!

    I am a total WP newbie. I am using the “interstellar” theme from UFO Themes.

    I want to change the default image sizes. I am going from the dashboard to Settings-Media. It has the default of 53px for the thumbnails for example. I can put in another number and hit “save settings” but it does not take. It just defaults back to the 53px again.

    I have looked in the theme customization and I do not see anything that would effect this.

    I have determined that the issue is theme specific. I changed themes and was able to modify the default media sizes.

    When I go back to the interstellar theme it is still the old defaults and they will not change.

    Any ideas? It is obviously a coding issue, but I have no idea how to write or change code.
