Title: Cannot Deactivate Cache Enbabler Last modified: May 6, 2021 --- # Cannot Deactivate Cache Enbabler * Resolved [HKP](https://wordpress.org/support/users/hiskingdomprophecy/) * (@hiskingdomprophecy) * [5 years, 1 month ago](https://wordpress.org/support/topic/cannot-deactivate-cache-enbabler/) * Hi Folks, * I want to deactivate Cache Enabler (CE) to do some testing on a basic Widget HTML error, but I cannot deactivate CE or empty the CE cache. * Current case size is 894Mb. * When I click “Clear site Cache” it hangs the site for a minute, then I get an Error Message: “There has been a critical error on this website. Please check your site admin email inbox for instructions.” * On recovery the CE cache is still full and unchanged. * When I try to deactivate CE and hit the plugin “Deactivate” that hangs the page for a minute, then I get an Error Message “There has been a critical error on this website. Please check your site admin email inbox for instructions.” * However, the CE plugin is not deactivated and nor is the cache deleted. * I then get a “Cache Enabler requires the advanced-cache.php drop-in. Please deactivate and then activate the plugin to automatically copy this file or manually copy it from the wp-content/plugins/cache-enabler directory to the wp-content directory.” message. * When I copy in the advanced-cache.php and refresh the page, the notice goes, but the CE plugin is not reactivated and cache is not cleared. * Each time I click CE “Deactivate” or “Clear Site Cache” the above scenarios repeat, again and again. * With WP-Debug on and I hit the CE “Clear Site Cache” * I get the following message: * ‘ Fatal error: Maximum execution time of 30 seconds exceeded in /home/hiskingd/ domains/hiskingdomprophecy.com/private_html/wp-content/plugins/cache-enabler/ inc/cache_enabler_disk.class.php on line 757 ‘ * With WP-Debug on and I hit the CE plugin “Deactivate” * ‘ Fatal error: Maximum execution time of 30 seconds exceeded in /home/hiskingd/ domains/hiskingdomprophecy.com/private_html/wp-content/plugins/cache-enabler/ inc/cache_enabler_disk.class.php on line 757 ‘ * The site health data is copied below.
