# Cannot Deactivate Plugin (HTTP 500)

 * Earlier today I installed version 5.2.5 of this plugin on a server running WordPress
   4.9.12 and PHP version 7.0.33. I quit the tour, looked at a couple of settings
   without altering anything, and then I went to deactivate the plugin.
 * Whenever I attempt to do this, first a window opens asking why I want to remove
   the plugin. After I click Submit or Skip, Firefox loads a blank white page and
   Chrome reports HTTP Error 500. Navigating back to the Plugins page shows that
   miniOrange 2 Factor Authentication remains activated.
 * How can I deactivate this plugin, please?

 * Hi [@nexeh26](https://wordpress.org/support/users/nexeh26/),
 * Thank you for reaching out to us.
 * To deactivate the plugin you need to have the same plugin name as when you installed
   the plugin. Did you by any chance rename the plugin via FTP or SSH? If yes, Can
   you just change the name of the plugin back to **miniorange-2-factor-authentication**
   the same way?
 * Please let us know if you are still facing the same issue. We will get it resolved
   for you quickly.
 * Thank You.

 * Hi there!
 * Thanks for getting back to me. 🙂
 * No; literally the only thing I did was install it through the WordPress Dashboard,
   browse through the available settings, and then attempt to deactivate the plugin.
 * Neither myself nor anybody else on the team used FTP or SSH at all that day.

 * Hi [@nexeh26](https://wordpress.org/support/users/nexeh26/),
 * It is not only that day but any time if you have renamed the plugin it can be
   an issue.
 * We are going to fix this type of issue in the next release.
 * Thank You.

 * The plugin has not been renamed. I have been very clear about this.
 * I installed the plugin. I spent about 10-15 minutes looking at the various settings
   available. I then attempted to deactivate and remove the plugin. At no point
   was the plugin renamed. At no point in that timeframe did anyone use FTP or SSH.
 * **Please explain why you marked this issue as resolved. It hasn’t been.**
