I’ve never had an issue before with creating and downloading XML files of all of my WordPress posts, pages, comments, custom fields, terms, navigation menus and custom posts to save onto my computer of my site until now. The last time that I’ve successfully downloaded a file was in June 2015.

For the past several days, I’ve tried downloading a copy but the file would say “failed”. Sometimes, I’d have to completely close the browser in order to log back into WordPress, because the browser will continually say “connecting” and not let me retry or go to my WP dashboard.

Today, I’m seeing an error message, and it’s still not allowing me to download an XML file of my site.

C:\Users\PINKRO~1\AppData\Local\Temp\H51PONhh.xml.part could not be saved, because the source file could not be read.

Any ideas why this is happening? How can I resolve this, because I’m clueless right now? I’ve never had an issue with this before. Could it be a plugin conflicting with the export, and preventing it from downloading. I’ve tried deactivating ALL plugins and switched and activated the Twenty Fifteen theme, and that still didn’t work.

    My active and installed plugins:

    Akismet

    Captcha by BestWebSoft

    Compact Audio Player

    Exec-PHP

    GigPress

    Optimize Database after Deleting Revisions

    Share Buttons by AddToAny

    SoundCloud Shortcode

    WordPress Related Posts

    WP Super Cache

    Yoast SEO

Side note: I did try asking my host with help and they didn’t know what could be an issue, but did suggest deactivating the plugins and switching to a different theme. Also, I did log into my 2nd WordPress install, it’s just for theme/layout testing only. I was able to export a file perfectly fine from there.

Thanks in advance for any help with this issue!

  • Hmm, that’s a noodle-bender, ain’t it? What about trying to install another WP site on this account and try that, too? Perhaps there’s a permissions issue of some sort, at this point. It’s hard to say what could be wrong. Disabling plugins and switching themes is agreat first step. But see if the issue can be reproduced on another installation on the same host.

same with me, i cant export to. dont know why. this happen after update
