Cannot Get Site Offline

    I have installed 2 different plugins to attempt to take my site offline and neither one has ever worked. WP Maintenance Mode and Ultimate Under Construction. Confusing as these are super simple — just download and activate. And nothing. The site remains visible after I logout of WP. WP version is up to date. Please advise.
