# cannot install properly

 * I install the plugin but on the settings page a popup says,
 * _An error occured while updating the options. For more information, check your
   console. You might also want to check your PHP Error Logs._
 * The console error says:
 * _GET [https://xxxxxxx/wp-json/mwai/v1/settings/update/](https://xxxxxxx/wp-json/mwai/v1/settings/update/)
   404 (Not Found) An error occured while updating the options. index.js?ver=1725625753:
   2 An error occured while updating the options.
   {message: “The API can’t be accessed.
   Are you sure the WP RES…le: http…
 * Visiting [https://xxxxxx/wp-json/mwai/v1/settings/update/](https://xxxxxx/wp-json/mwai/v1/settings/update/)
   shows:
 * _{“code”:”rest\_no\_route”,”message”:”No route was found matching the URL and
   request method.”,”data”:{“status”:404}}_
 * Meanwhile there does not appear to be anything in the PHP logs regarding this
   issue.
 * I’d like to try it as the current AI we’re using isn’t particularly good. Thanks.

 * Make sure your WordPress REST API is enabled and running on the wp-json endpoint.
   Without this, the plugin won’t be able to update the settings and function properly
   on your website. Thanks!

 * Hi, yes the REST API is working here: [http://dev.encast.eu/wp-json/](http://dev.encast.eu/wp-json/)
 * But the plugin still throws an error. I then removed all other plugins and the
   error still occured.
 * The site is http (it’s a dev site) so could that be an issue?
