# Cannot manual refund via woopayments

 * Hi, I can’t seem to manually refund an order that has been placed via Woopayments
   is there a reason for this? I want to mark the order as refunded and issue store
   credit to my customer the system does not allow me to do this, it only allows
   me to issue a refund to the customers original payment method. Can this be added
   as a future features request? Paypal, Klarna & Clearpay all allow manual refunds.
   or am i missing the correct method to achieve a manual refund?

 * Thank you for your question and for sharing your use case.
 * Currently, WooPayments **only supports issuing refunds back to the customer’s
   original payment method**. There isn’t a built-in option to manually mark an 
   order as refunded and issue **store credit** instead. For more details you can

   If you’d like to issue store credit to your customer, you would need to use a**
   WooCommerce store credit or gift card plugin** as a workaround. For example, 
   you could manually create store credit for the customer and mark the order as
   refunded in your own records.

   so the team can consider adding the ability to issue manual refunds or store 
   credit directly in the future:

   for confirming, much appreciated. I have added a feature request. I genuinely
   think this is a key missing feature for merchants, especially when refunds need
   to be recorded for VAT/accounting purposes but processed outside of WooPayments(
   e.g. store credit/exchange).
