# Cannot remove widgets from sidebar

 * I have had my hosting account completely wiped and have just installed a fresh
   copy of wordpress. I changed my theme, changed the background colour and added
   the header. I went to edit the sidebar widgets which are currently pages, archives,
   meta and search but none of these are appearing in the sidebar in the widgets
   editing page so I have no way of removing them.
 * What could be the problem?

 * The theme you are using probably has these things hard coded in the sidebar if“
   no widgets” are selected. Try adding a widget and see if the items in the sidebar
   disappear. If so, then that’s how the theme is set up, if not, then the theme
   has these sections hard coded.

 * I added a widget like you said and the other sidebar items disappeared. You were
   right, the theme has pages, archives and search hard coded in the sidebar when
   no widgets are selected.
