# Cannot select database

 * Hey guys,
 * I’m having trouble setting up WordPress. Very simply, it cannot “select” the 
   database, but it says it connects to the database server.
 * The server I use names the database with the prefix of my username, so I didn’t
   forget to add that. I really have no idea what is wrong, because I’ve done stuff
   like this before…
 * I’ve checked posts around here, but they don’t seem to be a solution to my question.

 * if you do, when you set up the installation, fill in the areas just like you 
   would with the ftp

 * After I filled in the information to wp-config.php, I uploaded all the files 
   using FTP. Then when I go to /wp-admin/install.php to install it (for the first
   time), it gives me the “cannot select database” error.

 * Are you using CPanel ?

 * Either way, you need to associate the database with your name. The above guide
   does that for CPanel and there is another there for Plesk.

 * I was using cPanel and didn’t do that one little extra step. I had the user in
   the DB, but I never pressed the “Add User to DB” button.
