# Cannot update – permissions issue

 * I am getting the following error when trying to update the plugin to the latest
   version:
 * Update Failed: The update cannot be installed because we will be unable to copy
   some files. This is usually due to inconsistent file permissions.
 * I don’t have a complex website, what level should the permissions be and which
   permissions are impacting this update?
 * I never had issues like this before.

 * Hi,
 * Some people have had similar trouble because of Wordfence’s config cache file
   when trying to update — in your Wordfence options, near the bottom of the page,
   turn on “Disable config caching” and save the settings, then try to update again.
 * If it still won’t update, you might need to manually remove the file at:
    wp-
   content/plugins/wordfence/tmp/configCache.php
 * Our dev team is working on a permanent fix.

 * I ended up deleting and reinstalling the plugin – problem solved! By the way 
   LOVE your plugin!
