# Cannot update WP-error mesage

 * I tried to update to the latest version of WP, and I got this error message:
 * “Could not create directory.: /home/fourlegg/public_html/wp-content/upgrade/wordpress-
   3.tmp
 * Installation Failed”
 * What does that mean and how do I fix it?

 * First, review what the correct permissions should be, then contact host and ask
   them if WordPress can write to this folder…
 * If they are a good host they will know how to help you.
 * Due to the great variety of hosting environments, we cannot be any more specific.
 * Also, if an automatic update failed, you will need to perform a manual update.
