# Cannot UPGRADE subscriptions

 * When my FREE membership customers try to upgrade from their free membership to
   premium this is the error message they get….
 * “This may be because your existing subscription calls for no more payments to
   be made or because it has been cancelled or completed.”

 * Sorry to hear of the problem you are having.
 * The problem here would be that the subscription is indefinite so to PayPal it
   has no future payments to modify.
 * The free subscription would need to be finite to allow an upgrade 🙂
 * Could you please tell me which subscription mode you have used?
 * Please advise.

 * When I originally set up the subscriptions I did have my “Free” level as indefinite
   because my thought process was a free membership could continue forever. I have
   since changed the settings to this:

 * Do I need to run the “Verfiy/Repair Membership Tables”?
 * How can I allow these 22 members that have signed up as “free” members upgrade
   to “premium” members now? I have changed their gateaways to Paypal Express already
   but they still get the error message.

 * Are the new subscribed members getting upgraded from their free membership to
   premium After changing Free level from indefinite to finite/serial?

 * Yes you should.

 * You can just drop/move the membership of your 22 members that have signed up 
   as “free” members and add them again to the free membership from the following
   path.
 * Admin Area -> Membership -> All Members
 * After this members will get option to upgrade to “premium” members.
