Can’t (automatically) update the plugin
-
Hi chaps and chappetts ..
Your free version security plug-in just works, and it happily runs in the background (no worries), which also means that I never get involved with its upkeep, as in for example: WordPress now updating all the plugins for me.
It all just happens [in-the-background] these days, and it is brilliant.Today I was looking at my plugins list, and noticed that WP CERBER is blank, (with neither enable nor disable updates being selected), and the list was showing version 9 being installed.
A curious blank state that then saw me discovering that the latest version (9.5.8) — now needed to be downloaded, but directly from your own main website. For the last year, or so; I haven’t got involved with the petty childish squabblings of the block-base minded mentality of the closed-in WordPress community, and as such: have also missed the debacle; that then resulted in your fine plug-in being removed from the rowdy kids play-pen.
But what this also means, is that when a new version comes out; the automatic updater doesn’t pick it up .. resulting in an old version of your fine security plug-in, still happily running [in-the-background.]
A security plug-in, which is primality designed to warn you of old and out of date plugins, .. which is now a security plug-in, that is now [ not ] warning you of its own (out-of-date) vulnerability, ..
BTW: love CERBER’s simplicity, and as soon as my shield pro licence ends, I’ll be climbing aboard.
Now, I know that I’m a free-loader, and can expect no support, but don’t want any: your good name is what I’m concerned over here, this WordPress repo update business could do you some real damage if it’s not sorted out quickly.
I’ve now updated my website, (no worries), and will from now on, be keeping a closer eye on it.
Just thought you’d like to be aware of this free-loaders update situation.
Many thanks for the security simplicity ..
