# Can’t edit my website because I changed http to https

 * In my website settings I changed the URL of my website from http to https and
   now I am unable to access my wordpress dashboard. I get this error: ERR_SSL_UNRECOGNIZED_NAME_ALERT
 * I can view the website, but I can’t edit it. I have tried using [https://de-schrijfgids.nl/wp-admin](https://de-schrijfgids.nl/wp-admin)
   and [http://de-schrijfgids.nl/wp-admin](http://de-schrijfgids.nl/wp-admin), but
   both don’t work. Because my browser keeps automatically turning http into https,
   I have also tried clearing my browser cache and deleting my visits to my website
   from my browser history, but I think the browser still wants to take me to https.
   I am not sure if this is the main problemen.
 * How can I fix this?

 * Thanks for your quick answer! I was able to solve the problem using the link 
   with information about changing my URL. I did not know how to do this, because
   I could not access the admin area anymore, but following the steps I could do
   it via the functions.php file. Thanks again, you really helped me out!
