can’t edit or delete created sidebars
-
hello,
at some point i created several custom sidebars (though i have no memory of how i did it). i would like to rename or delete them but i can’t. i have removed the widgets that were in them but when i expand there is no delete or title options. how do i delete them, rename them or create others without the additional options that should be there? (i have a 3rd party theme but for these types of customization i am required to use the wordpress dashboard.)
thank you.-

If you created sidebars, they should be defined in your theme’s functions.php file. Search for “register_sidebar”.
sorry – i’m new to wordpress.. search where?
thank you.If you were able to create custom sidebars…… OK, how did you do that in the first place?
honestly don’t remember. i have a whole bunch that i want to delete because for some reason my 3rd party theme (newspaper by tagdiv) won’t allow me to use them on my homepage (but i can on post pages).. but when i click the pull down menu i see no delete or title..
Let’s see if they come from a plugin or your theme.
Please attempt to disable all plugins, and use one of the default (Twenty*) themes. If the problem goes away, enable them one by one to identify the source of your troubles.
If you can install plugins, install “Health Check”: https://ww.wp.xz.cn/plugins/health-check/ On the troubleshooting tab, you can click the button to disable all plugins and change the theme for JUST you, while you’re still logged in, without affecting normal visitors to your site. You can then use its admin bar menu to turn on/off plugins and themes one at a time. See https://make.ww.wp.xz.cn/support/handbook/appendix/troubleshooting-using-the-health-check/ or https://rankmath.com/kb/check-plugin-conflicts/ for more information.
