• Hi,

I am trying to install WordPress 2.6, now I have uploaded all the files and folder to a the directory as a test, like this.

    /root/wordpress/

as a test, I have changed the settings on the config file and renamed it as it says on the readme.
When I go to the install URL, and fill my blog name and email address and then click install, I get loads of database error but at the bottom of the page it say installed fine and gives me a username and passwrod and a button to cllck to login, when I click the link it takes back to the blog name and email address page.

I have checked the config file i.e. the database name, password but everything looks correct?

    So can anyone help please?

    Thanks
    Danny

  • You might want to confirm that the database user is assigned the proper privileges as described in Installing WordPress-Step 2 Create the Database and a User.

Yes I have given the user all privileges ?

when I click on the install button I get a number of database errors as an example here is one line

WordPress database error: [Unknown collation: ‘WP’]

this happens on every table that wordpress tried to create

can anyone offer an solution please?

    Thanks
    Dan

    [Unknown collation: ‘WP’]

I don’t think there is collation defined as “WP”.
You better don’t touch that line in the wp-config file!
