Can’t Parse Feed

    I keep getting a “Can’t Parse Feed” message when validating on the Podcast Connect site for iTunes. When I validate the feed on CastFeedValidator.com, it says it’s ok. When I run it on Podbase Validator, it says some areas are good, but runs endlessly in other areas like items that need to be searched properly like title, author, etc. which the RSS Feed does have. I also get an errors like the SSL certificate may not be compatible. I’m using Geotrust which Castos support says is supported (see file upload).

    I’ve been working at trying to pass this first step to podcasting to iTunes for weeks and have no idea what to do with this file and want to do my own hosting. Can anyone let me know what’s going on?

    Hello @jodiweitz,

    When you gave me your feed http://www.lynettelewis.com/dev2017/feed/podcast/ I was able to validate it on all sources, including Apple podcasts.

    When I try the https version (https://www.lynettelewis.com/dev2017/feed/podcast/) in my browser I get an SSL error. It is the same issue when viewing the main page via HTTPS. If you use the inspector in your browser to look at the certificate you can see that it expired in 2018, plus the host name for the certificate does not match this domain name. e.g. https://www.lynettelewis.com/, the certificate is for host name “lynettelewis.com.ronlewisministries.org”.

    I would check with your web host to find out why your SSL certificate does not match. It is not just that the certificate comes from GeoTrust, but also that it is not expired and also matches your host name.

    Also, Castos is a different plugin than PowerPress. If you are using their support for PowerPress you may not be getting the best advice for PowerPress. Please make sure you are getting support from Blubrry Podcasting for PowerPress.

    @amandato Thanks Angelo. I’ll make check my SSL Certificate that was purchased for the site a few months ago. Also, my feed is NOT http://www.lynettelewis.com/dev2017/feed/podcast/ etc., but is https://yourspectacularlife.com/podcast/XML.txt. Just checking to make certain that you validated the right feed.

    Hello Jodi,

    Referring to URL: https://yourspectacularlife.com/podcast/XML.txt

    This is not feed, according to the web server this is a text file. The contents within the file appears to be XML in the format that is used for a podcast feed but until the server reports the correct file type it will not be valid.

    This feed is not generated by PowerPress or a Blubrry service. Can you tell me more about this file and where it originated?
