To be clear: if the option is enabled, file editing is disabled. So if I understand you correctly you want file editing to be possible again.
It is possible you have manually disabled file editing in your wp-config.php, please check there as well. That will override the setting from Really Simple SSL.
Additionally, if you have a block theme installed, block themes disable file editing by themselves.
Another possibility is that it is disabled by another plugin or theme.
If any of these is the case, the plugin will show file editing as blocked, with a disabled option, but it’s not handled by Really Simple SSL.
Hello,
Thanks for a quick answer. That is correct, I would like to edit something in those files. I was checking the wp-config.php before, there is no disallow_file_edit set at all. I even tried to add this line and set it to false. Unfortunately it didn’t help. I will get in touch with theme creators, maybe they disabled it in latest release. I read that WordPress is gradually rolling out this function.
Regards,
Grzegorz
Hi @iosonogregorio,
It could indeed be the case that you’re using a theme that disables these options. As far as I know, full-site-editing themes such as Twenty Twenty Three might disable these options by default.
I would recommend checking whether the options are restored when temporarily switching to a theme that doesn’t disable those options, such as Twenty Twenty-One.
Kind regards, Jarno
