Can’t reconnect
-
Hi. This happened after I turned off all my plugins to check what was messing with my custom CSS customize option.
I’ve tried deactivating all plugins and changed theme to basic twentytwenty, followed the remaining instructions one by one in the troubleshooting guide (hopefully correctly), but I just can’t get back in. The sign in window just animates out and vanished and left me with the two options again; Continue with WordPress.com and Continue with Google
The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

First, please make sure that your browser is up to date: https://browsehappy.com/
If it is not, please try updating your browser or switching to a different browser.
If it is, please do these two things:
1. Try clearing your browser’s cache and cookies.
2. Try with all browser extensions or add-ons temporarily disabled.
Please let us know how each step goes for you, and which browser (and version of) you’re using if you’re still having trouble.
I’m using the latest Google Chrome Version 80.0.3987.149 and tried with the incognito window as well.
Did the steps you mentioned but still can’t get in. There’s no error message or anything.
If it helps, Jetpack debug says:
Could not validate security token
We were unable to validate a security token for Jetpack communication. Please try disconnecting Jetpack from your WordPress.com account, and connecting it again. It looks like you’ve already reactivated some other plugins on the site, correct?
Can you try deactivating them again, and then try reconnecting with only Jetpack active?
If that still doesn’t work, try deleting the Jetpack folder completely from your site using FTP at your host, and then reinstall the plugin.
Hi. Yes, I already did the former when I changed theme to twentytwenty. The folder should be located in wp-content\plugins right? If so, it’s already gone when I uninstalled the plugin.
The folder should be located in wp-content\plugins right?
That’s where it should be, yes.
Okay, there’s a couple other things we can try here.
First, please install and activate this plugin:
https://github.com/automattic/jetpack-addons/archive/add/jp-rm-options.zipOnce activated, it will remove any stale Jetpack data on your site. Deactivate the plugin, then try to connect again.
If that doesn’t work, please delete that plugin, then try installing and activating this one instead:
https://github.com/Automattic/jetpack-addons/archive/add/old-connection-flow.zipOnce installed, try to connect again. This plugin uses a slightly different connection flow, which may help with the issue you’re having. If successful, you can then delete that plugin.
If neither of those work, delete both of those plugins and let us know so we can investigate further.
I don’t know if it is normal but the first plugin just deleted itself when I click Activate for the second time (for whatever reason because there was only Activate and Delete options) in admin menu after activating it the first time upon installation. It brought me to a page that says
Plugin file does not exist.(mydomain/wp-admin/plugins.php?action=activate&plugin=jetpack-addons-add-jp-rm-options%2Fjp-rm-jetpack-options.php&plugin_status=all&paged=1&s&_wpnonce=8e1a7f46b4)The second plugin didn’t work either.
You’ll need to access your server via SFTP or FTP, or a file manager in your hosting account’s control panel (consult your hosting provider’s documentation for specifics on these), navigate to /wp-content/plugins/ and delete the whole /jetpack/ directory there.
Once that’s done, you’ll be able to reinstall Jetpack normally from Plugins > Add New in your site’s Dashboard.
@macmanx We went through that earlier. The folder was already gone when I uninstall the plugin. Unless you want me to reinstall the plugin and then delete the FTP folder, and then uninstall?
Did you try those plugins while Jetpack was installed? Or after Jetpack was already removed?
The second plugin uses an alternative method to make the Jetpack connection, so it will only work if Jetpack is currently installed on the site.
I tried the second plugin while Jetpack was both active and uninstalled. I think there was no message telling me what happened or anything, but I tried reconnecting, again. The response from the sign in window was still the same as I mentioned above.
Ok, please contact us via https://jetpack.com/contact-support/?rel=support so we can take a closer look.
Hi @macmanx I have been having trouble logging in to that as well since the very start. I clicked on Continue under my account name and then it just blinks out back to the previous page.
That issue also continue in a Chrome incognito window?
Yes it still reacted the same way. Would be nice to have an error message telling me what I forgot or did by mistake. This vanishing window thing just made me doubt myself, whether I registered using my wordpress.com account or my google account. In any case, both sign ins resulted in the same way.
Please try specifically with all Chrome extensions off: https://support.google.com/chrome_webstore/answer/2664769
It’s possible that you may have some allowed in incognito mode.
