# Can’t install plugins

 * Automatic installation of plugins has stopped working for me – every time I try
   I get
 * > Download failed.: name lookup timed out
 * I’ve searched the forums here and I did find someone who had a solution, which
   said:
 * > WP 2.7 has a bug that has to do with DNS name resolution. As a workaround, 
   > add the following to your local /etc/hosts:
   > 72.233.56.139 downloads.wordpress.org
 * Can anyone explain (in easy-to-follow terms) how I can do this?
