Sorry that you ran into issues here!
We never recommend changing things in the DB directly unless you know what you are doing and feel comfortable doing so (along with having a recent backup)
You can remove any categories you don’t want under Classifieds->Categories and then delete them from there. Have you tried that?
This operation was done two years ago (approximately). The categories are not there!
The categories have been eliminated!
Only this page shows the categories:

Do you see the ones you previously removed or not?
Can you show me a screenshot of this admin screen?
And which categories shouldn’t be showing? (that link above doesn’t tell me which ones aren’t supposed to be there) Again, a screenshot is best.

The categories are not shown anywhere.

(Latest 34 categories have been deleted, but here you see).
Just to close this out, we found this issue which was some corrupted data in your database and after cleaning that up, the problem disappeared.
