Category pages

Category pages don’t work. In the ‘Categories Widget’ when I click on any category with many posts it redirect me to the ‘404 Error Page’. I also detect this problem with the tags pages. Date Archive pages works well. Why can I do? I think there’s something in the archive.php wrong but how can I fix it? Thanks for your help!
