Category slider

Hello,

I am trying to create a category slider: a few slides, each one with a few recent posts from a different category and maybe a navigation with the categories near it.

I have searched and searched and i can’t find any plugin or combination of plugins that accomplish this. Can somebody please recommend a way to do this?
