Category Specific Paged Navigation

I am looking to implement “paged navigation” for a specific category. The template tag post_nav_link includes all categories and has no parameter for this. I am looking for it to have an “in_same_cat” parameter like the next_post_link template tag has.

Is there a plugin that accomplishes this task?

I don’t believe WordPress does this on it’s own, unless I am missing something.
