  • I assume that you hit ‘save’ after making the changes in the permalinks. If they didn’t take then WordPress may not have write access to the .htaccess file on your server (since that’s the file it changes on save of the permalinks). If WordPress doesn’t have access to that then I’d talk to my web host about gettting it cleared up.

One note, most FTP clients won’t show you the .htaccess file by default. You will need to enable hidden files.

    Thanks, let me try that.

Hey, I posted a different question here, but someone marked it as a “duplicate” and said to post it here instead, so here it goes:
    _______

I would like to edit this page to look like index.php. I’ve tried editing the templates search.php and category.php, but the changes are not reflected at all. (I copied and pasted the index.php codes into these two templates, and nothing happened.)

Can someone tell me which template I need to edit and where it’s located?

    Thank in advance.
    _______

But it’s really an entirely different question and should not be lumped together as this. I hope the admin would reopen that thread, for neatness.

Apparently, WordPress does have access to htaccess. Here’s the reply from my server admin:

WordPress does have access to write to the .htaccess files, as your site is under a wrapper where all files, even those written by the server, are owned by you as a user.

Do I need to change the permissions or something?
