# Causes server load

 * Cannot uninstall!
    Plugin does not appear in “Plugins” area of dashboard. Plugin
   folder is deleted off the server. But… Under the “Tools” area, the option still
   appears.
 * There is NO SCHEDULED backup, there is no plugin installed or folder, yet it
   still runs, wasting space.
 * Stores backups on the same drive / server as the site (so if the server or hard
   drive goes down, the backups go along with it).
 * Uses up space very quickly.
 * **Update 1:**
 * I thought the fix was to edit database.
 * Remove the following records from ‘options’ table:
 *     ```
       hmbkp_path
       hmbkp_default_path
       _transient_hmbkp_plugin_data
       ```
 * Okay, **plugin was uninstalled**.
    Plugin **folder was deleted**. Remaining **
   database records (above) deleted**.
 * Still…
 * Backups option for BackUpWordPress appear under tools!
    Backups are being created!
 * How is this even possible? – Makes me think this plugin delivers a hidden payload(
   s)?
 * This plugin is VERY frustrating! Once it’s in, you don’t get it out.
 * **Update 2:**
 * When you log back into wp-admin, the deleted database records are restored!
 * **THE FIX!!!!**
 * I finally found the issue! (After a long time).
 * Reinstall the plugin, then activate the plugin.
 * Upon reactivation, your WP dashboard header will display two messages:
 * > The BackUpWordPress Plugin has been de-activated The WP Remote Plugin includes
   > BackUpWordPress.
 * > Plugin activated.
 * In my opinion, this is a terrible implementation.
 * I’m deleting my WP Remote account and removing the plugin, just so I can get
   rid of this mess. WP remote was supposed to enable remote updates NOT to also
   waste server space and resources, processing needless backups (even though I
   had zero backups scheduled).
 * The functionality of these two plugins should be separate.
 * Obviously, I’m not happy with this plugin. Removed and canceled WP Remote account.
 * Hey Roger,
 * Thanks for the review, just wanted to query a couple of things.
 * > Cannot uninstall after installation.
 * Why can’t you uninstall it?
 * > Plugin does not appear in plugins area of dashboard.
 * I’m not sure what you mean by this, it adds a sub menu to the tools menu.
 * > Stores backups on the same drive / server as the site (so if the server or
   > hard drive goes down, the backups go along with it).
 * I totally agree with the idea that storing your backups on the same server is
   not as good as storing backup externally.
 * > Uses up space very quickly.</blockquote
   > You can reduce the number of backups that are stored to reduce disk usage.
 * Hi Roger,
 * I’m sincerely sorry that you’ve run into the issue you have mixing BackUpWordPress
   and WP Remote, we obviously still have some work to do to make it clear how those
   2 plugins interact.
 * I am experiencing these same issues.
    Upon recieving the message that a backup
   solution is present in WP Remote (though not one I can schedule which makes me
   sad) and that my backup plug in was deactivated I was unable to remove it. After
   I “deleted” it the plugin under Tools is still showing my backups.
 * I don’t expect this is a problem but I am wondering why I am not allowed to use
   it?
 * Also it appears that if I enable the plugin before adding WP remote the plugin
   remains active regardless of it being “deactivated” by the WP Remote installation.
   I have personally found that they are very responsive, professional and really
   do follow up. Even when things go wrong, they’re pretty quick to isolate the
   issue and work with people to get things resolved.
 * Doh! Your helpful reply to [@groan](https://wordpress.org/support/users/groan/)
   has bumped your 1 star review to the top of the reviews list :-(.
 * Well, Tom I will counter that 1 star review to a 5 star. So far WP Remote has
   been great. So you 1 star reviewers should sit back and rethink what Tom is giving
   us here, for free.
