 * The plugin is causing a fatal error and white page of death after updating to
   version 2.0.0. Any clue?

 * You could revert the plugin manually to the previous version.

 * Thanks, it works again. Anyone else experiencing the same with version 2.0.0?

 * Hi immaterial,
 * Thanks for the heads up, can you provide more details about what exactly the
   error showed?
    If you could also include URL/screenshot to the problem you’re
   seeing that would be great. We’d like to replicate on our end and get this fixed
   as soon as possible!
 * Please let us know.

 * There was a reference in this post.

 * Same error here after updating. So much for the 100% success/compatibility rate
   🙂

 * Exactly the same with me – /wp-content/plugins/googleanalytics/class/Ga_Admin.
   php on line 106
 * Having an automatic updater, I’m now having to go through dozens of sites and
   remove this plugin manually. HUGE work! I can’t say I’m impressed

 * After updating the Google Analytics plugin about 30 min. ago, I’m completely
   locked out of our WordPress site.
 * When I enter the URL for admin, I get a white screen that reads:
    Fatal error:
   Can’t use function return value in write context in /home/content/22/8003822/
   html/wp-content/plugins/googleanalytics/class/Ga_Admin.php on line 106.
 * I’d appreciate advice on how I can access the site and fix the problem if I cannot
   even call up our site, never mind get into the Admin console.

 * I got the same error. Panicked… then I deleted the plugin folder via FTP to regain
   access to my site. Not sure if that’s the correct method but it worked.

 * [@vfrb](https://wordpress.org/support/users/vfrb/): Can you explain to a noob
   in plain English how to accomplish this, please?

 * Hi dokrugby,
 * You can remove the plugin via your FTP by deleting the plugin.
    This would require
   access to your control panel via your web hosting solution.
 * Once logged into your FTP, you can find the folder under:
    /public-html/domain-
   name.com/wp-content/plugins/googleanalytics/
 * Delete the whole folder of /googleanalytics/ and you should have access to your
   WordPress dashboard again.
 * Hostgator has a great guide here:
    [http://support.hostgator.com/articles/specialized-help/technical/wordpress/how-to-installuninstall-wordpress-plugins](http://support.hostgator.com/articles/specialized-help/technical/wordpress/how-to-installuninstall-wordpress-plugins)
 * Additionally if you’re interested in re-installing the older version for the
   time being, you can download that by going to our ‘Developers’ tab and clicking
   on version 1.0.7.
    Here’s the direct link: [https://downloads.wordpress.org/plugin/googleanalytics.1.0.7.zip](https://downloads.wordpress.org/plugin/googleanalytics.1.0.7.zip)
 * Apologies again everyone on this error, we’re still looking for a solution.

 * [@brandonsharethis](https://wordpress.org/support/users/brandonsharethis/) So
   there is no way to log in to our site directly as a result of this issue?

 * Hi guys,
 * Great news, we found that the issue is related to PHP versions being outdated.
   The plugin was causing errors for those who are not updated past version 5.5.

   You can grab a copy of our fixed version here: [https://cl.ly/3F3w172X0g0q](https://cl.ly/3F3w172X0g0q)
 * If you guys can download and test it for us that would be great and we’ll be
   able to push this fix live to everyone!
 * Thank you!
