I have similar issue with @mistercode.

I just troubleshooted and noticed upon deactivating your Discontinue products plugin, the Missing categories showed up (linkages in the products are back as well). — Missing categories include mostly from DIY Parent category : Mainboard, CPU, and PSU and Storage Parent Category : HDD-Int

    Below are some screenshots :

    As an example :

PSU — one of the missing categories. — Linkages are shown when your plugin is deactivated. Lets see how it looks like when your plugin is in place.

** DIY parent category will have only 4 categories in place instead of 7 — when your plugin is activated.

** Plugin deactivated, the 3 missing categories came back :

Please see how we can resolve this issue…. URGENTLY.

    Thank you.

P.S: I have to deactivate your plugin in my live site now, if you would like to see the issue.. its currently at dev-s3.allstars.com.sg

    Regards

    Faustine

  • The plugin is unreliable. There are always problems with the output. Sometimes discontinued products are displayed when they shouldn’t be, then the counter is incorrect, and categories are repeatedly hidden when they should be displayed. Since we have over 4,000 products in 600 categories, it is impossible to check this every time. Therefore, we have uninstalled the plugin. It is not recommended.

@allstarsft Nothing. We decided to remove it without replacing it. The idea behind the discontinued products was to maintain the SEO ranking. But the problems affected more products and were worse than the loss of the SEO ranking. We decided to add redirects to the htaccess file so that the discontinued products were redirected to the new product or the corresponding category.

@mistercode Thanks for your input.. I have so many items that are discontinued that its hard to add Cross sells (alternative products) now. So how did you do the htaccess? My discontinued products span across many categories as well.
