# Change database prefix

 * Hey guys…
    Does changing the database prefix really strengthen the security? 
   And once the database prefix is changed, will I still be able to download, activate,
   and delete plugins and themes normally? Or do I need the wp prefix back?

 * It helps a little but you would better off reviewing all of the steps in [Hardening_WordPress](http://codex.wordpress.org/Hardening_WordPress).
