# Change Default Database?

 * I’m new to WP Data Access, and so far am loving it!
 * Is there a way to change the default database? The project I’m working on has
   all the relevant data in a remote database separate from the WordPress database.
   And every time I do something that requires specifying the database, it’s the
   WordPress database that’s the default (it’s listed before both information_schema
   and my custom database). I live in fear that I’ll insert something into the WordPress
   database!

 * You can set the default database per user by navigating to **Settings** > **WP
   Data Access** > **Backend **> scroll down to the bottom and find **Default Database**
   > Click on the button to set for user.
