changed servers wp-content not working

    I went from shared hosting to a VPS and now I cannot upload images or upgrade plugins unless I change the wp-content folder to 777 permissions. But thats not how it worked before, it should be 755. How can I fix this?

    Hi,

    your problem is more about server configuration.
    Do you use some admin panel (cpanel/directadmin/etc)?

    This is a server setup issue, my server side knowledge is limited unfortunately. From what I know 755 permissions will give WordPress write permissions when PHP is running as the user and writable by the web server. See this thread, it might help you troubleshoot the issue.
