 * Hi there,
 * I’m using Pagelines (Lite Edition, not DMS), and it seems that updating the theme
   made me lose the changes I’d made to footer.php and another file in the sections
   folder. I had a back up, so it’s all good. I’m just wondering how the WPide plugin
   works.
 * Here’s what I did:
    – I had made changes to two files straight from my theme
   folder (no child theme) – Had not updated my theme for months, because I didn’t
   want to lose the changes – Decided I’d install WPide, so I could then update
   the theme without creating a child theme – Installed WPide plugin, made sure
   the changes appeared when I opened the files in the plugin’s interface, and hit
   Save file (just in case). – Updated the theme
 * When I checked the files again, the changes were gone.
 * Is this normal? Or did I do something I wasn’t supposed to?
 * Thanks in advance,
 * JC

 * WPide is a file editor. It is no different to how any other file editor would
   work in these instances. The only way to not lose these changes is to, as you
   have done, make a backup before the upgrade then to apply the changes back into
   the modified theme.
