You only spoke of changing one URL on the dashboard. There are two: WordPress address (URL) and Blog address (URL) in General Settings.

nevermind figured out why!
Most likely problem is in the .htaccess file.
Best hope for a solution is to get WordPress to “re-do” Permalinks. Settings-Permalinks from the Admin panel. Save Changes button. Even try changing to another scheme of Permalinks and back again to what you want (with Save Changes in between) if the first Save Changes doesn’t solve the problem.
