 * Hello,
 * I’m a noob with WordPress and programmation and I’m stuck with a problem I don’t
   quite understand.
 * If someone could help figure this out and explain it to me in a way I can understand,
   I’d be VERY VERY happy.
 * Until a week ago I was with another host. When I registered with them, I had
   the domain name topfitgen.com. Then, I wanted to change my domain name for y0gen.
   com, so I got through the addon domain with that host. Since I didn’t want to
   use topfitgen anymore, I asked the host to swap y0gen.com with topfitgen.com
   so y0gen.com would become my primary domain and topfitgen the addon I could let
   die.
 * Then, last week, I changed host. And nothing is working anymore. When you type
   y0gen.com, it redirects you to topfitgen.com which is expired. I emailed the
   host saying so and this is what they replied me:
 * Your site is wordpress site and it stores all the configuration in the database,
   in your case the database is bobby_wrdp1. You have initially configured/setup
   the site using domain name topfitgen.com and now you have changed the domain
   to y0gen.com.So when you access y0gen.com it will automatically redirect you
   to topfitgen.com. So you will have to change all the entries of to topfitgen.
   com in the the database to y0gen.com. I see that there are about 835 entries
   of topfitgen.com in the database and it’s not possible for me to manually change
   all the entries. Please contact your developer and request him to change the
   domain name in the database.
 * I don’t understand what I need to do. I saw in the wp-config that indeed, the
   database is another one (topfitgen_wrdp3) but even if I change it for bobby_wrdp1
   nothing changes and the problem remains.
 * Is there anyone here who can help please? Thank you!

 * Here is an article on how to change the domains stored in your database. You
   may find it technical but its direct and not too hard to follow.
 * [http://www.mydigitallife.info/2007/10/01/how-to-move-wordpress-blog-to-new-domain-or-location/](http://www.mydigitallife.info/2007/10/01/how-to-move-wordpress-blog-to-new-domain-or-location/)
 * Make sure you make a backup of your database before you do this. If you don’t
   know how to backup the database, ask your webhost. Usually there is a function
   in the control panel.
 * These changes are done in PHPmyAdmin. If you are not familiar with that program,
   it is part of your webhosting. You can google for a basic tutorial.
