Changing host, domain and website

    So I was recently tasked with optimizing and taking controll over my dad-in-law’s webpage.

    He wants me to cut costs if possible, paying me instead of the guy he tasked with creating the page a couple years ago.

    He also wants more traffic on the page, a better looking layout and making me the admin of anything related to the page.

    I’ve developed my own page, using hosting and domain-registration through hostgator, but I dont know where to begin with the guy’s setup!

    What should I do?

    Hello,

    Sounds like quite the task. You may want to look into making a staging/copy of the current site(and a backup). Then you can work on that and make changes without the worry or fear of breaking anything on the main site. This can be on the same or server or another.

    Those would be my first suggestions/tips to get ya started.
