 * I am a web developer but new to w-p. I have been asked to move a w-p site from
   one host to another. The current site has v2.8.5 installed, the new location
   has v.2.6.3 installed.
 * My first question is can someone point me to documentation (sorry if it’s someplace
   obvious and I missed it) on how to move the theme/database/plugins and whatever
   else needs to be moved
 * And will the difference in versions be an issue?
 * thanks in advance
 * Atania

 * Just follow this guide:
 * [http://codex.wordpress.org/Moving_WordPress#Moving_WordPress_to_a_New_Server](http://codex.wordpress.org/Moving_WordPress#Moving_WordPress_to_a_New_Server)
 * The difference of versions is not important, as you’ll be moving your files,
   not installing WordPress again.
 * After the move, please consider upgrading as your current version is full of
   publicly known security vulnerabilities.

 * All you need is a fresh copy of WordPress the .sql downloaded from the database,
   ie phpmyadmin. and to make sure the wp-config is correct. That’s the 3 step “
   abridged” version just to help guide you. [Link removed – this is not an advertising

 * We have migrated the site and ran into a couple of issues. We followed the documentation
   noted above.
 * We are using the old blog for now while we troubleshoot issues on the blog at
   the new host. Would someone please look at this page, I do not know how to resolve
   the error message:
 * [http://209.16.108.254/](http://209.16.108.254/)
 * Also, the support staff of the new host has warned us that our migration resulted
   in installing a different version of wordpress so that there are now two on the
   server. Is this an issue?
 * Thanks in advance for assistance!

 * A related question – how do I access the dashboard for the blog on the new server?
   If I replace the usual login url with the IP adress:
 * [http://[ip](http://[ip) address]/wp-admin/edit.php
 * and use the username and password for the old blog we are denied access.
 * thanks!
