Hey Steve,
Try going to Theme Options> Home Layout, and find “Home Blog Settings.”
Then set “Home Blog Title.”
Let me know if that works for you.
-Kevin
Kevin,
I’m afraid that’s the one that controls the string of text that says “Latest Articles” at the moment. I’d like to change the text on that page that currently says “Latest Posts.”
For the record, I have the Home Portfolio Carousel disabled right now.
Best,
Steve
Hey Steve,
Try disabling Page Title from the homepage layout manager in Theme Options > Home Layout. Does that work for you?
Hannah
Hannah,
Well, that makes the header go away entirely. Is there any way to change it? Don’t get me wrong, this is definitely an improvement, but it’s not quite what I was trying to accomplish.
Best,
Steve
Unfortunately, there isn’t a built-in option to change this. You would have to go through the theme files using a child theme.
Just to note, in the premium theme you could work around this by adding a title to your home widget area.
Hannah
Hannah,
Oh, OK. So there’s nothing I can change in the “Abandon all hope, ye who edit here” files?
Upgrading to the premium is tempting, but it’s a little more than I want to spend right now. I’ll keep that in mind, though.
Regardless, thank you for your assistance.
Best,
Steve
Because your homepage is set as the latest post pate from Settings > Reading there isn’t a way to edit this because the home page isn’t an actual page. If your front page were set as a static page then the page title would pull from the title of your home page. Does that make sense? So if your home page is set as the latest post page then you can’t change the home title without editing the files in a child theme.
Hannah
Hannah,
Yes, I think I see. So basically my home page is being generated dynamically rather than being a static page somewhere that I could muck about with. And the title is set by the code that generates the page, code to which I don’t have access without using a child theme.
In any case, I think I’ve developed a workaround. Take a look and tell me what you think. I’m sure you’ll guess what it is after you see it.
Best,
Steve
I am still seeing “Latest Posts” as the title?
Hannah
Oops, sorry, I forgot I changed that. That’s actually the “Home Blog Title”, and to prove it, I’ll change it to “Latest Articles”, which I’d been considering doing anyway. Check it out now. The “page title” is not in use.
-Steve
Looks good to me! Does it work well for you?
Hannah
Yes. I wasn’t using the post carousel, so I put that right above the home icon menu and made all of the carousel items private. That way, it looks like the carousel title belongs to the home icon menu.
-Steve
That works! Way to create a workaround!
