I’m updating an old podcast site built in WordPress using PowerPress. All the podcast episodes were created as posts. The theme I’m trying to set up is expecting post-type = episode. I’ve installed a plugin (post type switcher) to change post types. However, when I change the post-type to episode, the post disappears from the podcast RSS feed. (PowerPress 8.4.6 and WP 5.6) Is there something I need to change in PowerPress settings?

    I’d appreciate any advice.

Yes, PowerPress uses POSTS post-type by default.

To use a different post-type enable “Custom Podcast Channels” in PowerPress settings > Advanced menu.
Then in the sidebar under PowerPress click on “podcast channels” and edit the default channel.
In the “other” menu, there is a post type pulldown. Pull it down to your post type and save changes.

Thanks Mike! Just one more question. I’d like to be able to make this seamless for the podcast subscribers. I’m redirecting the feed to podcastmirror.com. I have two hundred episodes. If I do a bulk edit on the episodes to change the post type to episode, then turn on custom Podcast Channels in PowerPress will podcastmirror update before I finish the process?

Any advice would be appreciated. (PS I love Podcast Insider. Great show!)

Podcast mirror will pull your feed every so often, but I don’t think it will be a problem. The base feed won’t change. Mirror should remain the same all the way through.
