# Changing URL

 * Hey, I tried following the steps so that my website would be displayed at [http://www.example.com](http://www.example.com)
   insted of [http://www.example.com/wordpress](http://www.example.com/wordpress)
   but I don’t understand a thing. Could someone simplify it for me plz?

 * The simplest instructions that I know of:

   4 easy steps. That user was trying to do the opposite (from example.com to example.
   com/wordpress) – but that shouldn’t be a problem. The logic is the same!

 * Same question with a twist. Going by the logic applied in the earlier post, what
   if I do not want to MOVE the files from the installation directory (to the root)
   and yet point the URL at example.com. I think this can be achieved by editing
   the index.php. Just do not know how.

 * I think I screwed it. I need help. I tried editing the Index.php file and now
   I can’t see anything.

 * As a precaution, I overwrote the original with index.php but it has not helped.
   I can’t even access the Admin Panel 🙁 Does anyone know the real issue?
