• When I try to redeem my gift card code as a “gift card” it’s not deducting the tax from the gift card, it’s making me pay for it separately. When I use my gift card as a “coupon code” it lets me take the tax off the gift card. How can I make it take the tax off the gift card redemption when used as a gift card?

Additionally, I’m getting an error message of “There Are No Shipping Options Available. Please Ensure That Your Address Has Been Entered Correctly, Or Contact Us If You Need Any Help.” when the total is $0.00. I think this has to do with the Flexible Shipping plugin, but just thought I’d ask if you had any insight on this as well.

  • Hello there,
hope you are doing well! 🙂

By default, the gift cards are applied to the cart total, including also the taxes. This issue is usually related to the use of external plugins to manage the taxes, for example, the Avatax or the TaxJar plugins.

Are you using a plugin to manage the taxes in your shop?

About the shipping issue, we don’t manage any shipping option, so in this case, you have to disable the shipping plugin you are using and check if the problem is solved, and then contact the plugin support, so they can check what is happening.

Let us know any news, please.

    Have a nice day!

I have similar issue. When the code is added as a coupon code, it adds the tax equivalent of the value to the discount. When added as gift code, it only uses the exact value purchased. See screenshots.

    As coupon code: https://prnt.sc/1fozm4d

    As gift code: https://prnt.sc/1foz74c

I do not have any third party plugin managing my taxes, just default woocommerce settings. My only option now is to deactivate coupon from my woocommerce settings.
Your plugin seems good one, I’m still testing and I like what I see, but this tax is going to be trouble, especially since gift cards are usually not taxed. You wouldn’t want users to get into tax troubles with government. 😂😂
