Comment Counter not working properly

I tried the search function, but found nothing.

I use the modified theme “daisy rae gemini”, and now found out the the comments are not counted in a row sorted by posting, but by time – which means that the 3 comments to one postings have numbers 13, 17 and 21 for example.

How can I fix this? Same thing is with deleted comments – they are also counted (deleted the first 10, now 11 is the first).
