 * This plugin seems to work quite nicely however there are options to allow group
   members to create and edit comments however I don’t actually see any way that
   comments can be added to documents. Is there a setting somewhere that has maybe
   switched off comments on documents or some other reason they do not appear to
   exist for me?
 * Regards,
    Phil.

 * Hi Phil-
 * Docs comments are enabled if comments are enabled generally. You can set your
   general comment preferences at wp-admin > Settings > Discussion.
 * If you can post comments on standard posts, but not docs, then it’s possible
   that there is a theme conflict going on.

 * Hi David,
 * Thank you for your response.
 * I do not see anything in the discussion settings that would stop comments working.
 * If I tick the checkbox for “allow comments” on a standard post then I can post
   comments to that post.
 * How would I be able to tell if there is a theme confict? We are using the latest
   version of Woffice with Buddypress.

    Phil

 * Hi @philtreeline-
 * There have been problems with Woffice before. If possible, switch temporarily
   to a vanilla WP theme like Twenty Nineteen and see if the comments area below
   the doc is restored.
 * I should also mention that each doc has a setting for who can post comments and
   who can read comments, so be sure that the doc you’re testing has permissive
   access for comments (under the “access” tab of the doc edit screen).

 * Thanks David,
 * We hammered the comment post/read permissions before posting this so I guess
   it is a WOffice conflict.
 * I’ll test it with a default theme first and if that works then I’ll flag it to
   their support team. Unfortunately they tend to put any issues with plugins on
   the plugin.
 * Regards,
    Phil
