# comments disappear when posts are backdated before 2018

 * Hi. I have a problem where anytime I backdate a post before 2018 the option to
   have comments underneath the post disappears. I have ruled out the theme as the
   problem. I found this issue by trying a fresh up-to-date WordPress install with
   only the core theme plugins, so I do not think plugins are the issue either. 
   This is a recent problem so I am wondering if it has to do with the latest WordPress
   update. Any ideas?
