Can you share the Courrpted email screenshot? Also, make sure you are using the latest version of Post SMTP.
@haseeb0001 when I ran the backups last week on Jan 5th I was using the latest version of Post SMTP (2.3.1 ) and BackupBuddy (v 8.8.0) – I see today that there is a later version of Post SMTP (2.3.2) so I will attempt another backup.

@haseeb0001 just to let you know, even with the latest version 2.3.2. of Post SMTP, this error is still occurring.

We have fixed the issue in our beta version; please download the Beta version from here, test it on your staging site and let me know.

@haseeb0001 thanks for this; I have tested it on a test site and it appears the issue is fixed as the confirmation email looks as expected. Thanks for your efforts with this. Once the plugin is updated on the repository, I’ll update it & test in the live environment once more, and report the results.

Please share error details and screenshots; as per your last comment, your issue was fixed.
@haseeb0001 yes the BETA version you sent me works fine but that’s not the one available through the repository. I’d reverted back to the current “live” one so that I’d get an update as soon as this fix was available to the general public. (I reinstalled the BETA version to check it’s ok, and it is…)
