 * Simple History is a great plugin but it was causing huge spikes in the number
of our executions on our Siteground account causing us to receive a warning from
SG. They dug into the statistics and found the following”
 * Judging by the URL in the ~15,000 requests, it seems the plugin “simple-history”
is constantly executing the “admin-ajax.php” script. Please review its settings
or disable it to resolve the issue. Or you may prefer to contact the developers
of the plugin to check if this notification service can be disabled because it
is generating too many script executions on the shared hosting server.
 * I had to deactivate Simple History from my sties. Why is Simple History issuing
so many calls to the “admin-ajax.php” script and can we limit the frequency?

 * It does use AJAX requests to check if there are any new events. However this
only happens if you have the Simple History page open. You must have had that
page opened a looong time for that many number of requests to happen.
 * But anyway, yes, a setting to disable the check for new events may be handy sometimes.
I’ll take a look at it!

 * Yes, if you have the dashboard open Simple History will periodically check the
log for new events. If you have a large amount events this could perhaps be a
bit slow or at least there will be many requests.
 * If this is a problem you can hide Simple History from the dashboard using the
settings page. That way Simple History will only fetch the audit log when you
actively go to the history log page.
