# Container – can’t nest elements

 * Hi,
 * I’m trying to nest blocks inside the container, I’m pretty sure it can because
   of the example on this page

 * However I can only get it to work as a paragraph and not nest other blocks in
   it (The normal plus sign doesn’t appear).
 * How do I go about adding headings and columns etc. into it?

 * Hi there,
 * Yep, you can definitely nest within the container block. It can be a little hard
   to see, but once you add the container block, you’ll get a (+) button on the 
   right side of the container, also [seen here](https://cl.ly/d9da74ebefdc). You
   can use this to add more blocks within the container. If you add text, images,
   etc., you’ll continue to see the (+) icon to add more blocks [after that](https://cl.ly/6c4923af6162).

 * Hi thanks for getting back.
 * Yes youre right it does work. I think Gutenberg sometimes has a few minor quirks
   with the hovering over elements.
 * It auto creates a paragraph element and then was difficult to click behind it
   to access the container.

 * Hi, just a follow up to say…
 * Once the paragraph elements have been added, the container block can’t be selected,
   so you can’t edit the padding / colours etc… without deleting the paragraph element.
 * Just thought I’d let you know. Maybe it needs some kind of click area that expands
   beyond the contained elements?

 * I know sometimes it can be hard to click specific blocks. Gutenberg recently 
   added a new feature to help with this. Click [this little icon](https://cl.ly/0e7c1195a108)
   in the toolbar to show the tree of blocks, which you can use to click the container
   block easily. Hope that helps!

 * I apply a background color immediately after creating the container. It helps
   me see the container’s location. I remove or change the color when I’m finished.
   It is a very frustrating block because it is all but invisible and difficult 
   find to hover over. The structure icon helps but it often shows only a subset
   of the structure depending on where in the document you are scrolled to.
