Content in shortcode does not display at all.

I had a code block I wanted to hide after a certain date and after troubleshooting (thinking the problem was the code block) realized even a simple single word of text was not being displayed in a “hide” shortcode postdated by several days. There seems to be something wrong with calculating dates as this is in the debug info:

The hide attribute is currently set to: 2019-02-14 08:00 America/New_York,
The Timed Content plugin thinks the intended date/time is: 1969-12-31 19:00 -0500 (49 years ago.).

Current date: 2019-02-11 17:57 -0500

I also tried adding a show date and experienced the same problem.
